About Mixed Grain Rice

A staple made by cooking mixed grains; more nutritionally balanced.

Health Benefits of Mixed Grain Rice

6x the fiber of white rice

Mixed-grain rice is typically white rice cooked with brown rice, millet, red beans, oats and other grains. 100g has about 2.0g fiber - far above plain white rice (0.3g) - with more varied proteins and better amino-acid complementarity.

Flatter blood sugar

The fiber and intact grain structure slow carb digestion, so post-meal blood sugar rises more gently than with white rice. Partly replacing white rice with mixed grains is a simple staple upgrade for blood-sugar control or weight management.

Cooking ratio tip

A 2:1 white-to-coarse-grain ratio cooks well and adds whole grains without harming texture. Soak coarse grains 2-4 hours ahead, or add a little extra water if cooking together.
