Holiday Notes

The schedule above shows China’s official public holidays for 2026. Per State Council regulations, there are 7 statutory holidays in a year: New Year’s Day (元旦), Spring Festival (春节), Qingming Festival (清明节), Labour Day (劳动节), Dragon Boat Festival (端午节), Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节) and National Day (国庆节). Each holiday card lists its make-up working days (调休). The final arrangement is subject to the latest announcement from the State Council.

How to Link Days Off for Longer Breaks

By combining your annual leave with weekends, you can enjoy much longer breaks. Below are suggested leave-combination (拼假) plans for each 2026 holiday for reference (final days depend on your actual annual leave quota and company approval):

  • New Year (元旦): take Dec 31 and Jan 5 (2 days) to rest Dec 31 – Jan 5, 6 days total.
  • Spring Festival (春节): take Feb 24 – 27 (4 days) to rest Feb 15 – 27, 13 days total (Feb 28 is a make-up workday).
  • Qingming Festival (清明节): take Apr 7 – 10 (4 days) to rest Apr 4 – 12, 9 days total.
  • Labour Day (劳动节): take Apr 27 – 30 (4 days) to rest Apr 25 – May 4, 10 days total.
  • Dragon Boat Festival (端午节): take Jun 22 – 24 (3 days) to rest Jun 19 – 24, 6 days total.
  • Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节): take Sep 28 – 30 (3 days) to rest Sep 25 – 30, 6 days total.
  • National Day (国庆节): take Oct 8 – 10 (3 days, including Oct 10 make-up workday) to rest Oct 1 – 11, 11 days total.

Overtime Pay on Holidays

Under Article 44 of the Labour Law, overtime pay standards on holidays are as follows:

  • Statutory holidays: paid at 300% of your daily wage, and cannot be replaced by compensatory leave. In 2026 there are 11 statutory-holiday days (New Year 1, Spring Festival 3, Qingming 1, Labour Day 1, Dragon Boat 1, Mid-Autumn 1, National Day 3); only these dates qualify for triple pay.
  • Rest days: paid at 200% of your daily wage, or compensated with time off.
  • Daily wage formula: monthly wage ÷ 21.75 days. For example, with a monthly salary of ¥10,000, working one statutory holiday pays an extra 10000÷21.75×300%≈¥1,379.
  • Note: during long breaks such as Spring Festival and National Day, only the statutory-holiday days earn 300%; the remaining days are make-up rest days paid at 200%.
