About Black Coffee

Plain black coffee is almost calorie-free and contains caffeine.

Health Benefits of Black Coffee

A near-zero-calorie pick-me-up

Unsweetened black coffee is only ~2 kcal per 100ml, mostly from the beans' trace oils; a 240ml cup is about 5 kcal. Its caffeine (~60-120mg a cup) blocks adenosine receptors to boost alertness. Coffee also carries antioxidants including chlorogenic acid.

Calories spike with milk and sugar

Black coffee alone is negligible, but 10g of sugar adds 40 kcal and 30ml of whole milk about 20 more. A latte (300ml) runs ~150-200 kcal, and a caramel macchiato easily tops 250. If watching calories, go black, or a latte with just a splash of milk.
