About Orange Juice
A common freshly squeezed juice, rich in vitamin C.
Health Benefits of Orange Juice
Fresh-squeezed vs store-bought differ a lot
Fresh orange juice is ~45 kcal per 100ml, mostly natural fructose. It keeps the orange's vitamin C and some fruit pulp, but most dietary fibre is lost. Commercial juices often add sugar or are reconstituted concentrate, raising calories and sugar - read the label.
Eat the fruit rather than drink it
A medium orange (~150g) delivers ~3g fibre and real satiety, while a glass of juice (250ml) is squeezed from 2-3 oranges with almost no fibre. For weight management and blood-sugar control, whole fruit beats juice. If you drink it, cap at ~150ml a day.
