About Green Tea
A near-zero-calorie drink rich in tea polyphenols and caffeine.
Health Benefits of Green Tea
An almost calorie-free healthy drink
Green tea is just ~1 kcal per 100ml - negligible. Its polyphenols (catechins) are natural antioxidants, with EGCG the main active. A moderate daily cup helps focus and supplies antioxidants.
Brewing and drinking notes
Brew green tea at about 80℃ (let boiling water cool 1-2 minutes); hotter water destroys polyphenols and makes it bitter. Avoid green tea on an empty stomach to protect the lining. It has ~20-30mg caffeine per 100ml (50-75mg a cup) - lower than coffee but still a pick-me-up.
