About Honey
A sticky sweetener concentrated from flower nectar.
Health Benefits of Honey
A slightly 'better' natural sweetener than sugar
Honey is ~321 kcal per 100g, below white sugar's 400, but still a high-calorie, high-sugar food (~82% a mix of fructose and glucose). It carries trace enzymes, minerals and flavonoids - tiny amounts, but genuinely a little more nutrition than refined sugar.
How to eat it
A tablespoon (~15g) is about 48 kcal - use it to sweeten drinks instead of sugar, spread on bread, or stir into yogurt. Don't brew it with boiling water (heat destroys active enzymes); warm water under 60℃ is ideal. Never give honey to infants under 1 year (botulism-spore risk).
