About Soy Milk
A plant-based protein drink from soybeans, ideal for the lactose-intolerant.
Health Benefits of Soy Milk
A great source of plant protein
Soy milk is ~30 kcal with about 1.8g quality plant protein per 100ml. It's free of lactose and cholesterol, suiting lactose-intolerant and vegan people. Calcium-fortified versions can also supply calcium, making it a valid stand-in for milk.
Choosing and notes
Some commercial soy drinks are heavily sweetened (flavoured ones can hit 50-60 kcal per 100ml) - pick plain or unsweetened for lower calories. Homemade soy milk is fresh and sugar-controlled; drink warm after cooking or chilled. Protein begins to denature at 70-80℃ but nutrition largely holds.
