About Goat Milk
Nutrient-dense animal milk; a substitute for some lactose-intolerant people.
Health Benefits of Goat Milk
Smaller fat globules, easier to digest
Goat-milk fat globules are about a third the diameter of cow's, with a higher share of short-chain fatty acids, so gastric curds are finer and softer and easier for lipase to break down. Many who feel bloated on cow's milk perveil better on goat's milk.
Naturally higher in calcium than cow's milk
Each 100ml of goat milk has about 130-140mg calcium, above cow's 100-120mg, with a calcium/phosphorus ratio near 1.3:1, close to bone and aiding absorption. It's also higher in vitamin A, suiting children and the elderly as a daily dairy.
Lactose like cow's milk but often better tolerated
Goat milk has similar lactose (~4.3g/100ml) but, with easier-to-digest fat and a different casein composition (low alpha-s1 casein), many mildly lactose-intolerant people handle it better than cow's milk. Severely intolerant people should still pick lactose-free products or fermented dairy.
