Holiday Notes

The schedule above shows China’s official public holidays for 2027 (projected). Under the revised Regulations on Public Holidays for National Festivals and Memorial Days (effective 2025), there are 13 statutory-holiday days per year: Spring Festival starts on New Year’s Eve and lasts 8 days (9 days when New Year’s Eve falls on a Friday), Labour Day lasts 5 days, National Day lasts 7 days, and New Year’s Day, Qingming Festival, Dragon Boat Festival and Mid-Autumn Festival are 1 day each (3 days when falling on a weekend, 1 day only when falling on a Wednesday). The official 2027 arrangement has not yet been announced by the State Council (expected around November 2026); this page is calculated under current rules, make-up working days will be added once announced, and the final arrangement is subject to the State Council’s announcement.

How to Link Days Off for Longer Breaks

By combining your annual leave with weekends, you can enjoy much longer breaks. Below are suggested leave-combination (拼假) plans for each 2027 holiday for reference (final days depend on your actual annual leave quota, company approval and the announced make-up schedule):

  • New Year (元旦): take Jan 4 – 5 (2 days) to rest Jan 1 – 5, 5 days total.
  • Spring Festival (春节): take Feb 1 – 4 (4 days) to rest Feb 1 – 13, 13 days total (make-up working days are expected between Feb 9 – 12, pending announcement).
  • Qingming Festival (清明节): take Apr 6 – 9 (4 days) to rest Apr 3 – 11, 9 days total.
  • Labour Day (劳动节): take May 6 – 7 (2 days) to rest May 1 – 9, 9 days total.
  • Dragon Boat Festival (端午节): take Jun 10 – 12 (3 days) to rest Jun 9 – 14, 6 days total.
  • Mid-Autumn Festival (中秋节): take Sep 16 – 18 (3 days) to rest Sep 15 – 19, 5 days total.
  • National Day (国庆节): take Oct 8 (1 day) to rest Oct 1 – 10, 10 days total.

Overtime Pay on Holidays

Under Article 44 of the Labour Law, overtime pay standards on holidays are as follows:

  • Statutory holidays: paid at 300% of your daily wage, and cannot be replaced by compensatory leave. In 2027 there are 13 statutory-holiday days (New Year 1, Spring Festival 4, Qingming 1, Labour Day 2, Dragon Boat 1, Mid-Autumn 1, National Day 3); only these dates qualify for triple pay.
  • Rest days: paid at 200% of your daily wage, or compensated with time off.
  • Daily wage formula: monthly wage ÷ 21.75 days. For example, with a monthly salary of ¥10,000, working one statutory holiday pays an extra 10000÷21.75×300%≈¥1,379.
  • Note: during long breaks such as Spring Festival and National Day, only the statutory-holiday days earn 300%; the remaining days are make-up rest days paid at 200%.
