FAQ
What is the difference between Code 128 and EAN-13?
Code 128 is a general-purpose barcode supporting any ASCII character, often used in logistics and warehousing. EAN-13 is the international product-barcode standard with a fixed 13 digits, used for retail product identification. Code 39 supports uppercase letters and digits, and ITF-14 is used for outer-case packaging.
What is the difference between a barcode and a QR code?
A barcode is one-dimensional and stores only a small amount of digits or letters, requiring a laser scanner to read; a QR code is a two-dimensional matrix that can store large amounts of information such as URLs and text, scannable with a phone camera. To generate a QR code, use the QR code generator.
Can the generated barcode be printed directly?
Yes. After downloading the PNG it can be used directly for label printing or packaging design. A bar width of 2–3px is recommended for print clarity, and a height of at least 60px for reliable scanner reading.
What does an EAN-13 product code mean?
The first 2–3 digits are the country code (690–699 for China), the next 4–5 digits are the manufacturer code, then 4–5 digits of product code, and the last digit is a check digit. When generating a barcode, make sure the code length matches the chosen format.
