About IP Geolocation

Enter any public IP address to look up its geolocation. This tool intelligently aggregates three data sources — Tencent Maps, the local offline ip2region database and ip-api.com — to cover country, province, city, district, ISP, ASN, coordinates and timezone. For IP subnet math, use the IP Calculator.

IP Geolocation Use Cases

Network security analysis: check login logs for anomalous locations via ASN and ISP, and spot VPN/proxy egress nodes. Access-log forensics: identify where website traffic originates and which networks it belongs to. VPN verification: confirm the country and carrier of your egress IP. Location can change with your network environment — it reflects the current public egress point, not necessarily where you physically are.

FAQ

How do I look up the location of a given IP?

Type any public IPv4 address (e.g. 8.8.8.8) into the input and press "Query" or Enter. You will get the IP's country, province, city, district, ISP, ASN and coordinates. If the search box is empty, the tool auto-detects your current public IP.

How accurate are the lookup results?

This tool cross-validates three data sources — Tencent Maps, ip2region and ip-api.com — reaching country/province level precision, with ISP and district data supplemented in real time from an offline IP database. City-level detail can be further verified via WHOIS.

What is the difference between public and private IP addresses?

A public IP is a globally unique, routable address assigned by your ISP; a private IP (e.g. 192.168.x.x, 10.x.x.x) is only used within a local network and cannot be reached directly from the internet. This tool can look up any public IP address.

Why does IP geolocation keep changing?

Dynamic IP assignment by ISPs, VPN or proxy egress switching, and CDN node changes can all cause location shifts. Geolocation reflects the current public egress point, not necessarily your actual physical location.

How can I use IP for security analysis?

Check access logs for IP locations that indicate anomalous geographic logins; use ASN and ISP data to tell whether traffic comes from a known malicious network; verify that your VPN egress IP is in the intended country. For IP subnet math, use the IP Calculator.
