Find & Replace Text Online — Plain Text and Regex Replace
Replace plain text or use regular expressions, with case-sensitivity and replace-all options
About This Find & Replace Tool
This tool supports both plain find-and-replace and regular-expression replacement. In plain mode, enter the search and replacement text to replace in bulk; in regex mode you can use regex syntax for advanced matching (digits, emails, dates and other fixed formats) and capture-group references ($1, $2). Case sensitivity and replace-all are configurable, and the result can be copied with one click.
Common Use Cases
Development: rename variables or functions in bulk, e.g. replace an old variable name everywhere; unify log formats with a regex replace. Document editing: bulk-fix typos or outdated information in Word/WPS documents; normalize a specific date format across a document. Data processing: clean invalid characters from CSV or log files, batch-format irregular data; replace newlines or tabs to adjust text layout.
FAQ
How do I use regular expressions to replace?
Check "Regex mode" and enter a regular expression in the Find box. For example, use \d+ to replace all digits with an asterisk. If you need to test a regex, use a regex testing tool.
How do I replace special characters such as newlines or tabs?
In regex mode, use \n for a newline and \t for a tab. Plain mode cannot replace these invisible characters, so regex mode is recommended.
How do I undo a replacement?
If you need to revert, test the effect on a small snippet before running the replacement on the full text and confirming it is correct.
